How are the stories categorised? How does the timeline work? The story I'm reading is only one part but it asks me to click on 'Chapter 1' instead of going straight to the story. Why? A bit of information about the site. Who do I contact if I have any questions or problems? Do I have to join to use the site? [top] You don't have to be a member in order to use the website. Non-members can read stories in the archive as well as leave (anonymous) reviews. Being a member gives you the opportunity to post signed reviews as well as post your own work. Non-members cannot post works of fiction to the archive. How do I become a member? [top] In order to become a member you will need to register for an account. Please Note: Usernames should consist of letters, numbers, and the underscore character ONLY. No hyphens or other symbols/characters. Once you've logged in, click on Account Information and edit your preferences and bio to your liking. What kinds of stories are allowed? [top] As this is a Will/Elizabeth fanfiction archive, we accept stories that focus on the relationship (preferably romantic relationship) of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. However, there are exceptions. For instance if it's pre-romance - e.g. when they were kids - then those are definitely acceptable as well. Further information can be found in FAQ: Submitting a Story or read the Submission Rules. How do I submit stories? [top] If you have not already done so, please register for an account. Once you've logged in, click on Account Information and choose Add Story. The form presented there will allow you to submit your story. For more information on how to submit a story, read both the FAQ and the step-by-step guide How to: Submit a Story. What are the ratings used on the site? [top] We use the ratings system from FictionRatings.com (more information available on that website). A quick rundown: K: Content suitable for most ages (replaces the old 'G' rating)
How are the stories categorised? [top] Stories are categorised by genre, which include:
A fictional work can fall under more than one genre (e.g. drama, romance, angst). As well as using genres, stories are also categorised using the following:
How does the timeline work? [top] Fairly self-explanatory, but it means where in the POTC timeline a particular story falls.
Note: The tag scene at the end of the credits for AWE is considered post-AWE, so anything that happened between the end of the movie (before the credits) and that point is also considered post-AWE. (This includes anything 'Ten Year' related!) The story I'm reading is only one part but it asks me to click on 'Chapter 1' instead of going straight to the story. Why? [top] That's the $64,000 question. The answer is I have no idea! I've tried fixing it but I think it's a bug with efiction. I can turn off indexing but it also means that you don't get a index (ie chapter listing) for multi-chapter stories. Which would be a great big pain in the backside. So for the time being, indexing remains on and when you have a one-part story, just click on the chapter link. A bit of information about the site. [top] The site is run by Sarah (sg1padawan on LJ) who also runs the Will/Elizabeth LJ community. After At World's End came out, I wanted there to be a site to actually host the fiction, rather than trawl any number of various LJ's and message boards. So I decided to open The Captains Turner. The name was floating around fandom - I don't know who thought it up, but it's brilliant! (Let me know if it's yours and I'll gladly credit) It seemed like the perfect name for a Will/Elizabeth 'ship site. The archive itself is powered by the eFiction archiving script and hosted on my domain deeptwilight.com. Who do I contact if I have any questions or problems? [top] You can e-mail the site administrator via the contact form. |
